Children’s Dentistry in Madeley
Smilemakers provides care for all ages in our community. We enjoy seeing children and making sure that they have a positive experience visiting the dentist early in life. By doing so, they won’t develop a fear of the dentist and can look forward to their appointments with us.
Tongue Tie Treatment
A tongue tie is a condition marked by a short, tight or thick band of tissue that tethers the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth. With this restricted range of motion, your child can have difficulties breastfeeding. Later in life, they may have a speech impediment.
Fissure Sealants
The teeth in the back of your mouth are different from those at the front. The surface of these teeth has deep grooves in which food particles or bacteria can easily accumulate. When this occurs, decay is more likely to happen. Often, we recommend fissure sealants to our paediatric patients. They involve a thin covering that goes over the tooth. When applied, it gives a measure of protection, making the teeth easier to clean and more difficult for bacteria to gather.
The application of a fissure sealant takes just a few moments and is easy for your child to sit through. If we feel that fissure sealants are a good option for your child, we’ll be sure to discuss it with you at their appointment.
Mouthguards for Sport
If your child plays football, rugby, hockey, netball, basketball or any other contact sport, a blow to the mouth can occur. That’s why it’s essential that they wear a custom-created mouthguard.
Our professional-grade mouthguards aren’t like those you can buy at the chemist. They provide superior protection as they’re created specifically for your child’s mouth. When worn during practice or matches, you can be sure that you’re protecting their head, neck, mouth and jaw from injury.
